Rhodes Scholar 2024

As you may be aware from the school’s Facebook post, Warwick’s former 2018 School Captain, Caleb McKenna, has been awarded the 2024 Rhodes Scholarship to attend Oxford University (UK) and to continue his studies.

This is the most prestigious academic scholarship awarded to a WA university student each year and is very keenly contested by students from all WA universities.

Caleb is a remarkable young man, with a very strong desire to succeed and to ‘give back’ to society.  He was educated at Wanneroo Primary School and then Warwick Senior High school.  I am aware that Caleb gave up a place in the Gifted and Talented program at Perth Modern School to attend Warwick and join the Specialist Australian Rules Football program.  He excelled academically and on the sorting field and was the ATAR Dux of his year.

Warwick SHS is exceedingly proud of Caleb’s achievements, and we wish him every success in the future.

And we are also very proud of our part in assisting Caleb to attain this amazing result!!

International Science School at The University of Sydney

Warwick SHS is extremely proud of Year 11 students Eamonn Chandler and Jake Crowe who applied and have been selected as two of only four WA scholars for the International Science School at The University of Sydney.
The program is highly sought after with high-quality applications from right across the state.
Eamonn and Jake will travel to Sydney and experience an amazing line up of guest lecturers, all leading scientists in their fields, including one of the UK’s leading fusion energy experts, an Antarctic ecologist, quantum computing specialist and many others as well experiencing STEM-focussed activities, research lab tours and hands-on experiments.
Congratulations

Jake and Eamonn on your wonderful achievement!

Lions Youth of the Year Competition

Year 11 student, Annie Pham, participated in The Lions Youth of the Year competition in Term 1 and was successful in obtaining a position in The Lions District W1 Final on the 18th of March. Annie’s speech was on the topic of the impact on the lives of those who are offended by racial slurs, gender bias and sexual jokes. The judges were very complimentary of Annie’s presentation, and speech content. Annie’s aunt who has accompanied her through the process was in fact the 2019 Year 12 award winner.
