Warwick Senior High School Board

The role of the School Board is to ensure Warwick Senior High School is governed well as an Independent Public School. The composition of Board members brings together a range of perspectives, knowledge, skills and experience which contributes to the good governance of the school. The Board comprises parent representatives, staff representatives and community members. Some community members are attracted to the Board as people working in partnerships with the school, wishing to extend their support of the school. Other community members are former students or staff members who have been shaped by their time at the school and are keen to give back to the Warwick Senior High School community.

I have been heavily involved in school governance for many years and look forward to bringing my experiences to Warwick SHS and working closely with a dedicated and passionate group of people committed to improving the educational experience for all students at Warwick Senior High School.

Lesley Wintle

Principal

Warwick Senior High School

In 40 years in education I have been a teacher of Science (Chemistry and Physics) and the principal of three secondary schools (Cannington, Belmont and Warwick). I am committed to leading my school in providing a high-quality education for all students and to facilitate a positive future for each and every child. With Independent Public School status, Warwick Senior High School has the opportunity to shape the educational learning and development program to suit the specific needs of our students and to provide opportunities other schools do not offer by understanding the aspirations of young people and inspiring them to grow. The experience and ideas Board members bring to our school adds further insights and opportunities to make our school even better.

Minister for Education and Youth of Australia

The Hon Dr Anne Aly MP has been the Federal Member for Cowan since 2016.

In her late twenties, Dr Aly was a single mother of two young boys, relying on minimum-wage work and social services benefits to put food on the table. She went on to study her Masters and PhD and worked as a professor, academic and practitioner in counter terrorism and countering violent extremism, and was the only Australian representative to speak at President Obama’s 2015 White House summit on countering violent extremism.

In 2021, Dr Aly was awarded the McKinnon Prize for Emerging Political Leader of the Year, in recognition of her Parliamentary work against both right-wing extremism and family & domestic violence, and following the election of the Albanese Government in 2022, she was appointed Minister for Early Childhood Education and Minister for Youth – becoming the first Muslim woman to serve as a Commonwealth Minister.

Young people are not just the future, but have proven again and again that they are, in fact, today’s leaders. Dr Aly is excited to have the unique opportunity to help foster and develop these leaders through diverse educational outcomes at Warwick Senior High School.

Bronwyn Sinclair

Parent representative

As a School Officer of over 10 years, I understand how important parent involvement is for every school. I am also a staff member on the School Board of the Primary School where I work full time. My husband is FIFO,  we have 3 teenagers and my 2 daughters attend Warwick SHS and both are in the Dance Program, my youngest is in the Dance and Netball Programs. Impressed with the support the school gave to my family at a difficult time, I feel joining the School Board was a way I could support the school in return.

Chair West Coast Secondary Education Support Centre

I am a parent of a student at West Coast Secondary Education Support Centre (WCSESC) and the Chair of the WCSESC board.  Our two schools are lucky to share the same campus and I believe we are creating a unique learning environment which benefits all of our students.  It’s been pleasing to see greater communication and co-operation between our two schools over the past few years and I joined the Warwick SHS board to assist us to work even better together.
