Warwick Senior High School is a modern and progressive secondary school located in the northern suburbs of Perth. Ideally situated, it is a school with a strong tradition of academic excellence together with a caring and supportive environment where students are given every opportunity to be successful in their chosen pathways.

Students typically come from the local primary schools, as well as schools outside of boundary. Students are attracted to Warwick SHS because of the special academic, arts and sporting programs offered, particularly, the Academic Extension Program and the specialist Netball and Australian Rules Football programs. There is also a very strong STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) program which extends and challenges students in all of the above areas.

Curriculum

A comprehensive curriculum is offered at Warwick SHS and includes a range of Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE) courses and programs endorsed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority. Students work towards achieving their WACE over four semesters in Years 11 and 12. In addition, Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses are available for senior students. Currently, approximately two thirds of Year 11 and 12 students study VET courses.

School based programs are also offered to those students with interests and abilities in Music and Dance. Academic and Leadership courses extend and challenge the more academically able students, while also developing skills that will prepare them to be future leaders in the community.

The school uses extensive information technology and is fully networked with 350 computers located in computer zones around the school.

Culture

Warwick SHS prides itself on its welcoming environment for all students and their families. Cooperation, consideration and respect of all people, as well as for the physical environment, are central to the achievement of this aim. This is supported by a strong Pastoral Care system managed by a dedicated, experienced and caring Student Services team including a Lower School Student Services Manager, Year Coordinators, Psychologist, Chaplain and School Nurse.

Opened in 1981, the classrooms and buildings are all well-appointed and functional and blend nicely into the surrounding 1.5 hectares of natural bushland. The majority of teaching blocks are based on an open campus plan, allowing for flexibility of lesson delivery and the utilisation of a variety of teaching methods by staff. The school is equipped with facilities including a gymnasium, tennis, netball and basketball courts, sporting fields, a Performing Arts Centre, open air amphitheatre and a swimming pool. Most of the school buildings utilise evaporative air conditioning.

The school is close to main roads, public transport, shopping centres and community amenities.

Warwick SHS aims to achieve its motto of Aspire, Learn, Grow in every endeavour. Staff, students and parents can work together to make a difference and help to ensure that every young person achieves to their maximum potential.

We look forward to working with you!
