Warwick Senior High School was one of four schools invited to take part in the recent Scitech NXplorers program, which focused on the question: “How can we be more sustainable with our food, energy and water at our school?”

Students investigated problems around the school, identifying innovative solutions to reducing waste. Everything from worm farms to water filters to basketball backboards on bins, were offered as a way

for the school to reduce its environmental footprint.

One idea that impressed the judges was the solution of putting aerators on the water taps, which could reduce water usage from those taps by 60 per cent.

NXplorers will be rolled out to all Year 9 students next year and is a great example of the STEAM focused education offered by Warwick Senior High School.
