Science Week this year includes the inaugural Science and STEAM Open Night on Wednesday, 15 August. Come and see what makes Warwick an Australian leader in STEAM education. There will be student work on show, our interactive exhibits area, a maker space to experience STEAM education and a Science show. The night runs from 6 pm to 9 pm in the school gymnasium. Everyone is welcome.
This week we host our feeder primary schools for the Science Fair, hold our world-famous school quiz, listen to keynote speakers and celebrate all things Science. You can like our Facebook page for a full recap of all events each day.
Students can celebrate Science by participating in activities such as building bat boxes for the Warwick Bushland, building and donating solar lights for children without electricity in their communities and matching wits against the humble ant in the “Are You Smarter Than An Ant?’ competition!
Perth Science Festival
Warwick returns to the Perth Science Festival, which this year has moved to the Claremont Showgrounds on 18 and 19 August. After a successful debut in 2017, we have been asked to demonstrate again what we do so well. General admission tickets are $10, while children under four years are free. Book now
Warwick Pedal Prix Racing hits the streets
Warwick Pedal Prix Racing makes its debut in the Act-Belong-Commit Busselton Pedal Prix event this weekend. We have two cars entered and would love your support, so if you feel like a day in the country, why not head down to Busselton to support the team in this six-hour event. The race is along the Busselton foreshore, just south of iconic Busselton Jetty.
Warwick will be the feature story coming out of the event with the organisers selecting the school to document our journey into the world of pedal prix racing. This event provides students with real-life applications of the STEAM skills we promote at the school. It’s an engaging and action-packed weekend, in which students will not only need to complete the race, but also to come up with creative solutions to any problem they encounter.
