Our students in years 7, 9 and their teachers have been diligently working towards completing the NAPLAN testing in the current online format.  As you may have heard through the media, students participating in the tests across the country experienced technical difficulties, and this was also the case for students here at Warwick.  I would like to thank our dedicated staff who assisted students through this process.  We have been in constant communication with the School Curriculum and Standards Authority who facilitate the testing in WA to ensure that all of our students are able to achieve to the best of their ability without any disadvantage caused by technical problems outside of the schools control.  We have been assured that we can continue with the online testing format and will keep all parents and students affected, informed of any changes that need to be made.  Thank you again for your understanding and support through this challenging process.

Our Principal Lesley Wintle is currently enjoying some well-earned Long Service Leave and I have been very grateful to have the opportunity to fill in as Principal in her absence.  As Principal I have been extremely proud of both our students and staff with the way they have started term 2.  It has been a busy term already with lots of events that you can read about in this newsletter.  I was particularly pleased with the Stargazing night and lecture from Dr Brad Tucker.  I found the presentation fascinating and it was great to see so many Warwick families and community members in attendance.  We have so many great things happening here at Warwick SHS that sometimes it seems hard to keep up with it all!  Our Year 7 Great Start awards were another fantastic event with a lot of parents and Primary School Special guests visiting for this celebration.  I hope that everyone continues to work to the best of their ability and continue to have a great term.

School Tours

We regularly conduct school tours on Tuesday mornings at 10am during term times.  We have had requests to run a tour outside of school hours and have now added these tours to our calendar.  The first out of school hours tour will be held on the 22nd of May at 4.15pm.  Bookings are essential and places are limited so please contact the Warwick SHS front office to secure a place, 6240 4400.

We are always pleased to see our students proudly wearing the school uniform.  As the weather gets a little cooler we would like to remind families that they can purchase jumpers and jackets from the uniform shop to keep students warm.  We have an expectation that ALL students will wear the school uniform ALL of the time.  Any student that cannot meet that expectation for a range of reasons must contact Student Services at the start of the school day to discuss how we might be able to provide support.
