Warwick SHS students Charlie Hamilton and Felix Bergdahl were in Canberra in April attending the Rotary Adventure in Citizenship.

Timed to coincide with budget week, students are provided with a ‘behind the scenes’ glimpse of our national capital, access to policy makers and a front row seat to the budget announcements. It is a fabulous program designed to encourage students with a civic service interest and ignite their passion for service to the community.

This fabulous opportunity has been made available to Charlie and Felix by the Rotary Club of Karrinyup (District 9455). The Club has partnered with the school since the 1980s to offer our students a range of citizenship, leadership and science opportunities.

Charlie Hamilton (Year 11) had the opportunity to meet with Dr Anne Aly MP, Member for Cowan, as part of his involvement in the RAIC Australia 2019 program.

Thank you to Anne for making some time in her busy schedule to meet with Charlie and the other delegates attending the program.

Warwick SHS is located within the Electorate of Cowan.

Felix Reports on RAIC

Last week I came home from the RAIC program in Canberra. It is a Rotary program where young people from all over Australia meet in Canberra and get to see what’s going on in the Nation’s Capital. Charlie Hamilton and I were sponsored by the Rotary Club of Karrinyup to represent WA. It was a truly amazing experience and we got to meet interesting people, one of whom was the speaker of the House of Representatives. We also met senators and many others. We stayed with host families from the Rotary Club of Canberra and Woden. I am going to go more into detail at a future Rotary meeting but it was truly a fabulous experience and I want to thank everyone in the club that made this possible.
