Warwick SHS Swimming Carnivals

Two Warwick SHS Swimming carnivals were conducted in March, Year 7 and 8 and Years 9 to 12. Each carnival involved a combination of both competitive and novelty events, with everyone who participated enjoying the day. In the end it was Kimberley who won the House Championship for the day with 413 points. Champions and Runners-up Champions are listed below, as well as House results.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the House swim carnivals and especially to the HPE team!

Interschool Swimming Carnival

Congratulations on a great team effort at last week’s SSWA Interschool Swimming Carnival D Division, where we finished up in 6th position. We had 35 competitors with 6 helpers who all did a wonderful job on the day.

Warwick came away with 4 Award Winners – see photos attached

  • Year 7 Boys Runner-up Champion – Mitchell Perry
  • Year 7 Girls Runner-up Champion – Honey Harrington
  • Year 9 Girls Runner-up Champion – Holly Leaman
  • Year 10 Boys Champion – Ethan Italiano

Special mention to our younger girls who stepped up against the Year 10s in the Freestyle Relay and came 1st – outstanding effort.

We had other students who stepped up to help gain points for the team – particular Skye Holt, she was initially a reserve for most events for her age group and due to a few no shows she put her hand up to fill a space every time.

Big thanks to Adam Pesce and Janne Nolan for supervising and working madly up in the stands to organise our team for each race.

Senior Boys Basketball

It has been a positive start for the Senior Boys Basketball team. Having competed against six different northern schools the team has successfully won five of these games. The team has been coached by Mr Curtin and Kobe Lekias (ex-Warwick student) and coordinated by Miss Moran and Mr Curtin.

The competition is known as the School Sport WA Secondary Champion Schools Basketball Competition and finals will be held later in Term 2. The competition works as a knockout system with the two top schools to play off in the final. The team has been playing exceptionally well and showing great teamwork and pride for the school. We wish them luck next term and hope to see a successful finish!
