During the April School holidays, Darcy Dhu (Year 10) and I were invited to attend a cultural camp along with other Aboriginal students involved in the Polly Farmer ‘Follow the Dream’ outreach program, where we were guided by respected and knowledgeable elder Dr Noel Nannup.

Each night we gathered around the open fire to listen to Uncle Noel tell us about the Noongar astronomy that connected to create a story. We followed this ancient Noongar song line on our four day camp through the wheat belt of Western Australia.

Darcy and I felt this camp was a great opportunity to reflect on and connect with our Aboriginal culture, and we felt very privileged to be in the company of Uncle Noel Nannup.
