Flag Raising Ceremony

Monday 7 September, our school proudly unveiled three new flagpoles, home to the Australian, Western Australian and Aborginal flags. For the first time, the flag of the Aboriginal community will greet those who visit our site.

Warwick is a proudly multicultural school, with more than 60 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students; about nine per cent of our student population. As a school comunity we are very proud to fly the Aboriginal flag for the first time in our 39 year history.

Attending the flag raising ceremony were Dr Anne Aly MP, Member for Cowan; Jessica Stojkovski MLA, Member for Kingsley; Jason Barrow, Cultural Awareness Officer, Kurongkurl Katitjin, Edith Cowan University; as well as a number of staff, students and parents.

The Student Council were instrumental in requesting that the school purchase and instal three new flag poles, to fly the flags. Thank you to our local federal and state politicians for the donation of new flags.

Please see below, a video of the unveiling with Alana and Dr Anne Aly, Federal Member for Cowan, speaking.
