On December 3, the Year 7 to 9 Follow the Dream students, who have met every Tuesday after school, came together for a special cooking class. Led by the amazing Marissa Verma from Bindi Bindi Dreaming, participating students cooked up a storm using bush spices.
On the menu was kangaroo wraps, lemon myrtle chicken nuggets, apple and pear wattle seed crumble with custard, infused dips and crackers, assorted cupcakes of wattle seed, rivermint and lemon myrtle and a fruit platter with a sweetened dipping sauce. So much yummy goodness!
The highlight, of course, came at the end of the session when everyone got to share a scrumptious afternoon tea. Joined by family members and staff, it was a great way to end the term and learn about the use of Australian bush foods, both in the past as well as the present.
Thank you to all involved. It was a great afternoon to learn, share and celebrate.
