When the Federal Budget is delivered by the Hon. Josh Frydenberg MP as the Australian Treasurer on 2 April, two Warwick Senior High School students will be in Canberra to see it.

Warwick SHS students Charlie Hamilton (16) and Felix Bergdahl (17) have secured places on the week long Rotary Adventure in Citizenship (RAIC) program. The boys will join 35 senior school students from around Australia to learn first hand about politics, law-making and how the government deals with important decisions such as the budget.

For a week, RAIC puts students inside Canberra to see such things as Parliament in action, including the Budget speech and Question Time, meet their federal member of parliament and Press Gallery journalists.

Their participation in the program has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Karrinyup, who have partnered with the school since the 1980s, to provide a variety of opportunities for our students.

Charlie received his nomination to attend the program through his participation in Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) and membership on the Senior School Student Council. Felix’s inclusion at RAIC differs in that he is currently on a one year Rotary Youth Exchange from Sweden and is participating as a representative of that program.
