|Access to Careers and Education (ACE) PROGRAM:
HELPING STUDENTS TO REACH THEIR POTENTIAL
The Warwick SHS ACE Program offers students a chance to gain qualifications at school in an alternative setting. Students are encouraged to reach their potential by working with the ACE staff to help them to achieve their aspirations.
ACE is a course for students in Year 11 and 12, which encourages students to continue their education at school or part time at a State Training Provider, and allows them to experience different areas of employment. Our special learning environment is characterised by:
A small group of students and individualised attention.
A dedicated and caring class teacher.
A flexible and practical learning program.
Direct links to State Training Providers and practical vocational outcomes or further study.
Extra assistance to complete assessments.
Links to outside support agencies.
Vocational certificates make up the majority of the qualifications and these are supplemented by endorsed programs and work experience. Students are encouraged to complete Workplace Learning in different areas, then are given the opportunity to participate in a school based traineeship or apprenticeship in their chosen area. This allows them to remain at school until the end of Year 12 and prepare for work once they complete school.
Contact the school to speak with a helpful staff member who will be keen to discuss your child’s suitability to the program and explain how the ACE program will meet your child’s educational needs.
Students will need to complete an interview to be accepted. Placements are limited and are only valid for one year, after which time the student’s enrolment will be reviewed. As with all post compulsory courses, fees are payable for all subjects.
