Welcome to Warwick!
Welcome to Warwick Senior High School, a co-educational, comprehensive Year 8 to 12 public senior high school.
Our school has a proud tradition of excellence, and produces graduates who are able to leave this school and make significant contributions to modern society, in a number of fields. This has been verified in 2010 as Warwick Senior High School received a “TOP PUBLIC SCHOOL” award from the Minister for Education and the Director General of Education, acknowledging the outstanding results our 2010 Year 12 students received.
Aspire, Learn, Grow is our school motto and this encourages our students to achieve excellence in all that they undertake. Enrolling at our school provides students with a diverse and exciting range of opportunities in academic, sporting, cultural and community service activities.
The range of courses available at this school allows our students to pursue academic and vocational qualifications. Courses leading to university entry or TAFE and the workforce, are all on offer. The school is one of only a few metropolitan high schools that is also a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), and thus can deliver nationally accredited Certificate courses. We are committed to working with students and parents to design a program of study best suited to student needs and their goals for the future.
To assist in the use of information technology, the school is fully networked and has 350 computers housed in five air conditioned computing laboratories and others across all learning areas. In 2011 all Year 9 and 10 students will receive a personal laptop (a MacBook) to use at school and to take home. This will be an exacting evolution in our school ICT program
The school has 550 students from Year 8 to Year 12, which enhances its personal care for students. The Student Services team supports the teaching staff by attending to the social, emotional and spiritual needs of students. This ensures the development of the “whole” child. Student Services staff include two Associate Principals, a Year 8-10 Student Services Coordinator, School Psychologist, School Nurse, five Year Coordinators (one per year group) and a Chaplain.
Set in 1.5 hectares of natural bushland, our school environment is highly conducive to learning, and the high quality, attractive, well appointed buildings blend with the natural environment. The majority of teaching blocks are based on an open campus plan, allowing flexibility of lesson delivery and utilisation of a variety of teaching methods by staff. The school is equipped with modern facilities including: a gymnasium, tennis, netball and basketball courts, extensive playing fields, Performing Arts Centre, open air amphitheatre and a 25m swimming pool. Most school buildings are air-cooled, and computing labs have refrigerated air conditioning.
Our school is committed to your child’s success. As the parent of a child at Warwick Senior High School, I will ask for the same commitment from you and your child. This commitment is to work with the school to encourage your child to work hard, achieve their personal best and take every opportunity presented to them to strive towards the achievement of their aspirations and goals.
I look forward to your child’s success as a part of the Warwick Senior High School community.
